Footlight Dance Centre Dress Code

At Footlight Dance Centre, we make buying dancewear as easy as possible. Our selection includes leotards, tights, and ballet slippers. Our teachers are happy to help you with fittings and size guidance to ensure the right fit and feel.

Modern

  • Solid-colored leotard (girls only)

  • Footless tights or leggings

  • Barefoot (no shoes or socks)

  • Hair neatly pulled back

Creative Movement 1

GIRLS:

  • Solid color leotard (no skirt/tutu attached) 

  • Leggings or footless tights (we dance barefoot)

  • Hair neatly pulled back: bun, ponytail, or braids are all acceptable

Ballet

GIRLS:

  • Solid black leotard (no attached skirt)

  • Pink tights and pink ballet slippers

  • Hair neatly pulled back—bun, ponytail, or braids

  • Buns are required at ballet 4

BOYS:

  • Comfortable clothes for movement—no jeans

  • T-shirt of choice (solid color preferred)

  • We dance barefoot in this class 

BOYS:

  • Black leggings or jazz pants (no jeans)

  • White T-shirt (preferably solid)

  • Black ballet slippers

Hip Hop

  • Leotard must be worn underneath any fitted t-shirt or tank top (girls only)

  • No baggy shirts allowed

  • Pants, or sweatpants are okay as long as they don’t drag on the floor

  • Clean sneakers must be brought changed into at the studio

  • No outside street shoes on the dance floor

  • Hair must be pulled back securely

Jazz

  • Solid-color leotard (girls only)

  • Leggings or jazz pants

  • Hair pulled back securely (bun, braid, or ponytail)

  • Slip-on jazz shoes (tan or black acceptable)
